Education for Uganda Children

Hope Institute where young people can be encouraged, motivated, challenged, equipped/trained, and ultimately sent out into the world to stand against their circumstances. Under the auspices of HI, we would then hope to have many programs that aim towards our driving vision.

While many Ugandan children receive some formal education, most of them do not go on to graduate from high school.  This is due to the high cost of education, especially at the high school and college level.

        1.  The Hope Institute will offer an alternative for technical education, providing young people with the goal setting emphasis and practical training they need to be successful in their lives. Training classes will include jewelry making, carpentry and woodworking etc.  These are skilled areas that have low start up costs, and there always exists a good market for these trades in all communities.  Poverty and low self-esteem can be eliminated when people possess a viable means of earning an income.

        2.  These skills can be learned in a very short period of time, from just a few weeks to a few  months.

        3.  Our future plans include producing our center’s wares and products on a large scale so that we may use the money to help students who can not afford to pay for classes.

The Hope institute is currently supporting 4 students in college at a cost of 10,000 dollars a year. We also have 15 students waiting for sponsorship for elementary school education in varying grades K-12 in Uganda. Total cost of this work is estimated at 10,000 dollars for the whole year. We are also partnering with the Janesville noon Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Jinja to send 50 street kids to school. That grant has been submitted.
