Jewelry Projects: This projects recruits women and young girls who otherwise have no income at all. They get trained in bead making and arts/crafts. Products made are then imported to the USA for sale or sold locally. We already have a group of 8 women making beads for us, and our goal in 2008 will be to start 4-5 groups in different villages. Goal is to sell our Jinja Jewelry that is made in Uganda on a much larger scale utilizing the internet. Potential customers can view the jewelry and order directly on the net (www.jinjaproject.com). 80% of our proceeds go back to Uganda.
Financial Requirements:
1. Purchase a paper cutting machines at a cost of $1200 2. Hiring a design consultant to train our groups. $ 1500
This project qualifies for a matching grant. .
